First Aid Training

About Me

David McDermott, Owner of McDermott Aid Training

My name is David McDermott, and I am owner of and primary trainer for McDermott First Aid Training. I first started working for the London Ambulance Service in 2006; since then I have spent over 11 years working on frontline ambulances, with the majority of those years as a registered Paramedic. My many years' experience dealing with a range of illnesses, injuries and incidents has given me confidence in passing on my knowledge, and a drive to ensure that people are capable of performing competent first aid. During my time as a Paramedic, I quickly noticed that the most helpful conversations between First Aiders and Ambulance crew members were with those who felt confident that they had been able to help. I wish to instil that confidence in all of my trainees and, because of my medical background, am certain that you will leave my courses feeling ready to tackle anything.

Training Experience

Over my last years in the London Ambulance Service, I accrued over 1000 hours mentoring members of staff, including newly qualified graduate paramedics. I ensured that they were trained proficiently and professionally and were ready to face the responsibility of working on emergency ambulances.

Since gaining the required training qualifications set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in order to be able to deliver accredited first aid training courses, I have been delivering first aid training for a range of companies from gyms, landscapers, offices, as well as training staff in NHS Trusts as a resuscitation officer. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to me and I aim to make the whole process as simple as possible, from initial contact to ongoing support after the delivery of the certificates, you can be sure to expect a professional service.
