LEVEL 3: PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID AND DEFIBRILLATION (RQF) 2 DAY

TWO DAY COURSE | CERTIFICATION GAINED UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION

This two-day course covers First Aid in relation to infants and children, specifically focusing on the needs and requirements of the younger anatomy. The course meets the guidelines and criteria set by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and OFSTED.

Over the course of the 2 days, candidates will learn the following:

What You'll Learn

  • Role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
  • Be able to assess an emergency situation
  • Primary survey - DRABC
  • Perform paediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for both infants and children
  • Safe use of a automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Recognise and treat a choking child or infant
  • Treatment for minor injuries including fractures and wounds
  • How to recognise and treat for children and infants suffering from shock
  • How to treat a child or infant with potential neck and back injuries
  • Understand how to treat a child or infant with a condition that effects their eyes, ears and nose
  • How to administer first aid to a child or infant who has experienced an electric shock
  • How to administer first aid to a child or infant suffering from anaphylaxis
  • How to treat a child or infant suffering from poisoning
  • Recognise and provide first aid to the following sudden illnesses; diabetic emergencies, asthma attack, meningitis, febrile convulsions
Certificate gained upon completion

Successful candidates will be awarded with an Ofqual regulated qualification that sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) that is valid for 3 years

The Day's Agenda

Assessment takes place in the form of practical assessments over the duration of the course, as well as completing a workbook which is their portfolio of evidence.
