First Aid Course

This comprehensive course is aimed at anyone wanting to become qualified First Aider in the workplace. This course includes everything included in the one day EFAW course, as well the recognition and management of various illnesses and injuries.

Over the course of the 3 days, candidates will learn the following:

What You'll Learn

  • Role of a first aider
  • Actions to take in an emergency
  • Primary survey - DRABC
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Safe use of a automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Treatment for a choking casualty
  • Recognise and provide first aid to the following illnesses; heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes
  • Treatment for minor injuries including fractures and wounds
  • How to recognise and treat for casualties suffering from shock
  • Conduct a secondary survey
  • The severity of various types of head injuries
  • How to treat burns and scalds
  • How to administer first aid to a person suffering from anaphylaxis
  • How to treat a casualty suffering from poisoning
Certificate gained upon completion

Successful candidates will be awarded with an Ofqual regulated qualification that sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) that is valid for 3 years

The Day's Agenda

Assessment takes place in the form of continuous observation over the duration of the course, which includes active participation in demonstrations and discussions, followed by a short answer/multiple choice question paper on the final day.  The course is completed over a minimum of 3 days (18 hours) and meets the guidelines set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations.
